Commercial Wood Feasibility Study

To support the development and use of Maryland's renewable biomass resources, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has created the Commercial Wood Feasibility Study (CWFS). The CWFS will help fund the cost of wood energy feasibility studies for facilities located in the state. These studies will allow entities to determine whether conversion from a fossil fuel energy system to a sustainable wood energy system is financially and technically viable.

Eligible applicants include: governmental, institutional, commercial, and industrial facilities (e.g., schools, hospitals, campuses, commercial buildings) located in Maryland.

Up to $200,000 is budgeted for the FY21 CWFS Program. Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis, subject to funding availability, and will be calculated as:

75% of the total cost of the feasibility study; OR

$15,000, whichever is lower
